I saw these beautifully round, creamy white hydrangeas.

They looked like giant snowballs or ice cream scoops.

Each blossom contains a multitude of small, three-petaled florets which form flowers-within-a-flower.
Happy Monday.

Love the hydrangeas Lynette. Apparently they do fairly well in our zone, so must go looking. Happy Monday. Allan

Thank you, Allan. They last quite long and from what I’ve seen, are quite heat resistant! So pretty and there are so many kinds to choose from. Cheers.

There are so many hydrangeas out right now. I always thought these white ones look popcorn balls. I’ve been seeing the same white flowers also in a cone shape. I was wondering if those are also hydrangeas or a different flower. We have a bright pink hydrangea bush that isn’t doing real well. We’ve had so little rain here, and I keep forgetting to water it, because it’s not near all my other flowers and plants. 😕

They really do look like popcorn balls. I think this particular type is called “mop head.” Certainly descriptive if not charming. Yes, there are a number of popular varieties, including the cone-shaped ones and others such as lace cap and mountain. There’s a climbing variety too and also the colour variations as well. You could change your pink one to blue by altering the soil acidity. Takes about a year (by the time you get new blooms) but a fun project. Cheers. 🙂

It’s a rather large plant, well-established and very healthy. There were lots of large blooms, so heavy that some of the stalks were bending over. Such gorgeous blooms!
