Celebration

A flotilla of small boats crowded the Okanagan Lake shoreline in preparation for the fireworks on Saturday night, Canada Day.

Seeing everyone out on the water and gathered near the waterfront and around one of the waterfront parks for the show was exciting.

As the sun went down and the moon appeared, the show began.

And intensified …

… until the finale.

Although the covid restrictions have been fully lifted since 2022, I am strongly reminded of how wonderful it is to be able to do these sorts of things; it’s something I am unlikely to take for granted ever again.

Happy long weekend Monday.

  1. Fireworks over water are amazing to watch and I am sure the boaters were rewarded that night. I recall when we rang in the New Year in Cairns. The fireworks filled the sky. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy the evening Lynette. Allan

    1. We were lucky with this one because we have been getting enough rain. It was such fun to be out like that among so many others and this triggered an acute remembrance of the eeriness of the pandemic.

Didn’t you do a post about New Years in Cairns? (Or perhaps I’m not remembering correctly.) I was in Iceland during the millennium New Years – that was an incredible show that went on all night with lots of partying and akvavit. Cheers.
