There are lots of parks near Yellowknife. Somba K’e is just to the south.
People love to snowmobile on the frozen lakes and it’s definitely a lot of fun, but you do need to watch out for frostbite since the wind chill can become quite high.

I hope not! Frostbite is awful. I’ve had frostbitten toes before and the pain is nasty!

Beautiful picture. I love how the sun is casting such a warm glow between the trees. I would love to visit Yellowknife, but maybe not during the winter. It sounds a bit too cold for my liking.

Thank you, Linda. It can get very hot in the summer, too (there’s about 4 hours of twilighty darkness in June) because there’s so much sun, but if you visit you will need to be prepared for bugs (a good bug shirt helps a lot). Well worth visiting as it’s so beautiful. Cheers.

That’s beautiful. I just looked up where Yellowknife is and wow are you way up there! That’s a 13 hour flight from where we live!

Thank you very much. 🙂 Yes, it’s a five hour flight from my home in Penticton, British Columbia. The interesting thing is that Yellowknife is still outside the Arctic Circle, so there’s lots more north that’s way way up toward the top of the world – I’ve flown it.
