After a very temperate autumn, especially for the north, we have been whacked by a sudden cold front that will deepen as we head into December.

In less than a month, I will be heading to warmer temperatures in the Okanagan Valley for the winter break.
Although this weather produces an extremely clear air quality and beautifully bright daylight, I am already looking forward to more warmth.
Beautiful photo!

Gorgeous capture, but oh wow is that a lot of snow. I’m sure you’re counting down the days to return to the Okanagan Valley.

Yes, we got dumped on. I am definitely counting the days. Three weeks and two days to go. 🙂

Now, that is a winter sky. I was lucky never have to visit NWT for work in the winter, but it does look pretty. Count down the days to home Lynette. Thanks for sharing. Allan

It really is beautiful, Allan, and there’s something about the air quality, so fresh and clean, that intensifies that effect. But my, it’s cold, and will get colder still. I am definitely counting – 23 days to go!

Morning. I see a bridge in the photo. Is it heavily used?

Yes, it is, as it’s on a major highway. Many years ago this river was crossed during the winter via an ice road. The bridge is over the Mackenzie River, the second longest in North America after the Mississippi.

Brrr … I can sense the cold just from the beautiful photo. Such glorious shades of winter blues!

Yes, there is something about the air quality (and the shades of blue) that communicates how cold it is!

Good to have something to look forward to. Start the countdown! The cold country has a beauty of its own, but I’m glad I’m not there. Love looking at your photos of it though.

Thank you very much. I sure have! 23 days! It is beautiful, and the north wears winter very well, but as you say, (and for me, at least) warmer is better.

We can enjoy it all (to a certain extent). Moderation is always the key.

Thank you! An elder sewed a traditional parka for me and it’s wonderful (totally made for the winter). I wear lots of layers underneath, so I’m very comfortable even when it’s -40.

You’re welcome! That’s awesome! That parka must keep you warm. Sometimes, nothing beats the traditional!

You must recognise this snow-blue from your time in the north.

Thank you very much. 🙂 Actually I live in the south and work in the north, so I’m going home for the break. It is a beautiful area.
