The last of the daisies are still hanging on and look pretty in spite of the wind and rain and cooler temperatures, especially the developing yellow seed pods.

I like how even the flowers are clinging on to the final days of summer. The yellow seed pods look beautiful even without their petals.

Yes, I agree. That’s one of the reasons I took the photo – I found the seed pods to be very pretty and I don’t usually pay much attention to daisies once they lose their petals.

It will soon be frosty and that will be the end of our summer/fall, but it has been nice to see you posting the progression of the season.

Thank you very much. 🙂 Yes, soon, although we haven’t had any frost yet, which is unusual. A nice, slow autumn would be really great after we had such a very long winter.

MANY years ago when I lived in Dawson Creek, I remember that it snowed on Oct. 5 one year, and two days later it melted. But then it snowed again on Nov. 5 and this time it stayed. It seemed to work as a general timeline for years, but with the climate changing, anything is possible now.

Yes, anything is possible now. Many of the elders here have described very different winter conditions from what exist now. Winters were much colder but also shorter by about six weeks, apparently. Now they just drag on and on and that really is hard on the animals.

I hadn’t thought of that, but yes, the animals have to get by on a lot less food if the winter drags on. Sometimes nature can be cruel.

The bears in particular were hungry this year because we still had snow in May. Yes, nature is beautiful and terrible. We humans so often feel sentimental about it, but nature is a total pragmatist.
