Squirrels can carry very large objects in their mouth, but they’re not really cheek stuffers. You can just make one of the stripes down its back, which is also characteristic of chipmunks. The two species have a lot of similarities, though, and are easy to confuse!

I don’t think they swallow right away; they collect the food in their cheek pouches and then put it in storage areas for the winter. This little guy was getting his larder ready. 🙂

True. I feel hamsters and some other animals can do the same. But yeah, that’s a lot before swallowing.
