I love this snow sculpture! Very endearing.

In this area, we have brown and black bears, but you have to go much farther north to the Arctic to see the white polar bears.
Climate change has lead to some of the polar bears mating with grizzly bears and producing a sort of blond hybrid called a grolar.

Happy Friday; happy weekend. 🙂
Grolars are absolutely adorable. Even the name sounds cute.

Not to be confused with molar, which is a type of tooth. 😉 Yes, the one in the photo looks so sweet! But I understand that they can be quite ferocious (both polars and grizzlies aren’t known for their laid-back personalities). It’s also sad to see this happening – the Arctic is getting too warm and the polars are finding a new way to survive.

I know, it’s very heartbreaking. At least they are finding ways to adapt. Hopefully it works. I wouldn’t want to encounter one of these in the wild though.

For sure not.
It is heartbreaking. I also hope the adaptation works, because I can’t see us humans turning this situation around very promptly (if at all).

Let’s hope polar bears don’t start mating with bipeds and become bipolar bears.

Hahaha. 😀 You want to watch out for the molar bears. They have really big teeth.

I love this one! It’s adorable! I didn’t know that bears were cross breeding. While it is sad they are going that direction, the result sure looks beautiful.

This is a young bear, not fully grown, but yes, so adorable with his head resting on a stone-pillow. 🙂
It is sad. The Arctic is becoming too warm for the polars to survive. They live on the sea ice pans, hunting for fish by diving in and swimming after them. When the ice melts, they can’t fish from the shore and so they starve. One way for them to survive is to mate with another bear species of a similar size.

Wow. And I thought that Polar bear was just dirty. I didn’t know they could interbreed. Interesting.
Have a nice weekend, Lynette.

This is a fairly new phenomenon; I think they have gradually come about in the last 15 years or so. Polar bears are huge, so grizzlies are probably the only other bear species able to physically match them. Black and brown bears are a lot smaller.
You have a good weekend too. 🙂

Oh that snow sculputure is something else indeed. I didn’t know about grolar bears. How interesting

Yes, I thought that one was very sweet. The grolar bears are new; they are the result of polar bears being displaced by warmer Arctic temperatures while the grizzlies move further north, also because it’s warmer.

I too love hugging trees Lynette 😊 specially old trees. I hug them and tell them that I love them and I appreciate all that they give us selflessly 😊🤗

They give us so much! Hugging a tree is not only good for the environment, it’s good for you, too. I wish more people felt the same way you do, Ashok. 🙂

Oh yes Lynette. I hug them for my healing 😊💖

Oh wow! I didn’t know this at all. Bad for the climate. But that’s one unique bear. So interesting. Thanks for sharing!

You’re welcome. 🙂 Yes, it’s very sad and very indicative of how poorly we’re treating the environment. I’m glad the polars are finding a way to survive, but the diversity that’s being lost is immeasurable.

Yeah, that’s sad about losing the diversity. They’re beautiful creatures. I keep saying this, but hope we’ll treat the environment better in the future instead of waiting until it’s too late.

Yes, I agree. It means that we have to be a lot less selfish than we have been, though.

Right? The grolar bears are very good-looking, but apparently quite aggressive (grizzlies and polars are both quite ferocious).

Have you watched the bear cartoons based on these bears, it is really good, your post reminded me of that!

I haven’t. I’m glad that a pleasant memory was triggered for you. 🙂

Well you can still watch them if there is a rerun or check on YouTube. Have a good week!
