Aren’t they? The little owls and the spectacular ibis. π

Never knew about scarlet ibises. They are magnificent.

They are so beautiful and graceful, especially in flight, and that colour – amazing. They are native to South America but have some range in the southern Caribbean.

Love the small parliament of owls, Lynette. And the ibis are so colourful. We occasionally see a white one here, but those scarlet birds are quite spectacular!

I didn’t know about that term being used for owls, Stuart. Nice post, Lynette.

Thanks, Anneli. π I love that they are a “parliament” of owls. This group certainly looks like serious parliamentarians. π

What a cool expression. So apt for these smart birds.

It’s the collective noun for a group of owls, Anneli. Probably derived from the old idea that owls are ‘wise’, and the equally erroneous idea that parliamentary politicians are also wise!

Aren’t they fantastic? So beautiful. They live in South American and the southern Caribbean. And the little owls are adorable.

‘Adorable’ I’ll go with, Lynette. Cute little creatures, unless you’re a small rodent, of course! But that’s nature.

Excellent point. We get owls up here that might scare you into next week. 10 kilos with giant wingspans. They can carry away small dogs and sometimes do.

Lynette, a beautiful start to the week! The owls remind me of my sonβs (and mine) favourite book βOwl Babyβ … I love their expressions here. Wow! The ibis colouring is astonishing, never seen such bright scarlet and what a sight in real life! π

I’m glad they gave you a nice start. π The ibis are spectacular, but the owls are so serene (unless, as Stuart points out, you are a small rodent). Even when they are hunting, they are deceptively calm.
