    1. Thank you very much, Joni. 🙂 It wasn’t that early; the time stamp on the photo is 8:11 a.m., but here above 60° N latitude, our days are getting very short. We will be at about 6 hrs of daylight by the solstice (we have very long daylight hours in spring and summer – about 6 hrs of darkness that isn’t all that dark; just kind of dusky). 🙂

      1. Wow I didn’t realize that Lynette. I honestly thought you were walking to work while it was still night. That would probably be hard on us we are definitely affected by the weather. It is nice to walk to work though. I had a job once on Mercer Island in Washington State that was very safe and I walked about three miles to work every day. It was a very peaceful time for me.         1. I have a very demanding, stressful job, so the walking helps a lot. We are projected to have about -30C (-22F) by Sunday, but I have the clothes for it (a parka that I can only wear when it’s about that cold because I will otherwise be too hot).

          My brother-in-law used to live on Mercer Island and I spent some time there. It was lovely.

          1. Wow it really is a small world isn’t it. I am sorry your job is so stressful but I understand how walking before and after can help. Boy that is really cold.
            We loved our time on Mercer Island we never used the car we walked everywhere. We stayed there for a year. We were renters we could have never afforded to buy there. I hope you have an amazing weekend Lynette. Love to you and your family. Stay safe. Joni

          3. Gotcha my friend. I worked extremely hard when I was working but because I am younger than my husband we were blessed to be able to be together while we are still young. I retired very early. We only spent what we could afford and we live a very environmentally friendly life. Have a blessed holiday with your family. Cheers Joni

    1. You are totally right. Environment Canada is calling for -30C for us by Sunday. I knew that change was coming, but my, it’s going to be a shock all the same!

    1. I drink a thermos of mocha coffee when I get to work, but you’re right, an invigorating walk to work usually works. It hasn’t been too cold yet, but -30 (-22F) is projected for Sunday. That will wake me up! 😉

  7. You blog name intrigued me. I assumed it was a spouse… Just last year my girlfriend told me that my daughter is a narcissist. I never knew it was a “thing.” I read four books immediately, and now have a better handle on dealing, or not dealing with her. She’s 37, and she’ll keep the grandchildren from us. Thankfully, my husband is just NOW coming to the realization that she’s passive aggressive, self centered, a liar at times, and manipulative. These things my other daughter and I have always known and recognized. Somehow my husband for all those years “sided” with her, which caused problem of a different kind. Anyway, glad you’re out of that situation!

    1. Thank you, Chef Mimi. 🙂 Narcissists are so, so difficult to deal with. My narcissist ex-spouse and I were only married for 20 months. He did the typical narcissist thing where he stopped hiding his real temperament very soon after the ceremony. I quickly realised that he had married me so that he could access a comfortable life. He set about trying to get every material thing he could lay his hands on. He almost completely destroyed the financial position it had taken me years to build. There were many other problems typical of a narcissist, too …
      Parents are often in total denial about their child(ren) particularly when narcissists are pulling the strings. I’m glad your husband is finally understanding what’s going on. Unfortunately, the only way to deal with a narcissist is to stay away from them, which isn’t good for your grandchildren. They will need you as a role model. Good luck with this – it’s not easy.

      1. Exactly. That’s pretty much what I took away from the books I read. Stay away. When she gets desperate for some babysitting, we’re all of a sudden “allowed” to see the kids. A few years ago my husband had a secret lunch with our daughter (they don’t live here) and then called me and said to show up here if I wanted to see the grandkids. It was so humiliating. He never understood why, when he was trying to “help.”

          1. Thanks. It was a rough couple of years. And we’ve been married almost 39, and otherwise do great together. Narcissism is truly interesting. I had no idea.

  8. A splendid photo! Each element woven to the others. Reminds me of being in Inuvik one year just before the Sunrise Festival, seeing the brilliant moon at about 10 a.m. and thinking that along with the usual slogan “Land of the Midnight Sun”, they could also use “Land of the Mid-day Moon.”

    1. The weather was quite odd (it had rained the evening before – very strange for NWT in Dec) and then had gotten a little colder, so this rather interesting ice fog developed. Everything was covered in a layer of ice, though. Very slippery.

  12. Beautiful moon! Funny, we woke up to fog that day too but it lifted after a few hours and then we were actually sunny. Fog is easier to deal with when it’s temporary!
