Much of Canada and the northern United States has been sitting in an icy, windy, thumpingly cold Arctic low for the past one or two weeks.

Some more southerly parts have been even colder than us, and we in the southern NWT had anywhere between -36 and -40C (-33 to -40 F). It takes me about seven minutes to walk to work, and by the time I get there, my eyelashes have collected ice from my freezing breath. It’s been pretty chilly.
But I’ve had lovely memories, like this one, to sustain me.

And this one.

The north is very blue and white right now, but I do like the southern blue and white. ๐
Hmm. -40 C, eh? Yeah, I’ll let you deal with that. We can hook up in the DR some day… ๐

Hooking up in DR would be terrific. ๐
Did you know that -40 C and -40 F are the same? Anyone can learn life in the cold zone, but I am looking forward to retirement in the Okanagan Valley โ itโs temperate!

Yes, I definitely prefer the southern blue and white. It’s 22 here this morning…not liking it at all! Beautiful photos, Lynette!

Thank you Jill. ๐
Thatโs about -5 C, so up here that wouldnโt be bad! Itโs all what youโre used to, isnโt it? Stay warm. ๐

Not really. I just have a really great parka. ๐

The snow is beautiful, but it sounds mighty cold. It is nice to think of the warm ocean breezes to warm your soul.

It IS cold, although it has warmed up to about -18C over the last couple of days (20 degrees warmer!) and it really is beautiful. Winter is the Arcticโs best season, but my, I do miss the warm breezes. ๐

Warmer weather is finally here along with the dirty sand of winter. Not quite like Southern beaches, but…..Stay warm Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. ๐ I really donโt like the melting, dirty sand part. Yuck. But, on the plus side, weโre about 18ยฐ warmer than Sunday – yay! ๐

Lynette, I can’t imagine living in temperatures like that.

Most people canโt, but they really could do it if they had the right gear. A good parka will keep you pretty toasty, ๐

Walking to work when it’s 40 below outside. We Americans are too wimpy to do something like that….

Hahaha. ๐ But what about the ones who live in Alaska?

I keep forgetting we bought that state 150 years ago…

We sure did! We came back to -35. That was tough!

Beautiful memories, Lynette. I found it cold here today in Florida today at 8C up to only 14C. I donโt envy you youโre temperatures.

They are! ๐
It has warmed up to about -14C, so it really feels pretty good now! Any kind of warm-up is great, but having the right clothes covers a multitude of temperatures. ๐
