Winter Blast

Much of Canada and the northern United States has been sitting in an icy, windy, thumpingly cold Arctic low for the past one or two weeks.

Some more southerly parts have been even colder than us, and we in the southern NWT had anywhere between -36 and -40C (-33 to -40 F). It takes me about seven minutes to walk to work, and by the time I get there, my eyelashes have collected ice from my freezing breath. It’s been pretty chilly.

But I’ve had lovely memories, like this one, to sustain me.

And this one.

The north is very blue and white right now, but I do like the southern blue and white. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hooking up in DR would be terrific. ๐Ÿ™‚
Did you know that -40 C and -40 F are the same? Anyone can learn life in the cold zone, but I am looking forward to retirement in the Okanagan Valley โ€“ itโ€™s temperate!

  1. The snow is beautiful, but it sounds mighty cold. It is nice to think of the warm ocean breezes to warm your soul.

    1. It IS cold, although it has warmed up to about -18C over the last couple of days (20 degrees warmer!) and it really is beautiful. Winter is the Arcticโ€™s best season, but my, I do miss the warm breezes. ๐Ÿ™‚
