At the end of the day, after all the beach- dwelling people have wandered off, sunburnt and tired,

the ducks reclaim their rightful place

and the geese return.

The lake becomes itself once more.

The time I prefer the beach is when the ducks and geese return. The quiet of this time is relaxing.

It very much is so! π we hung about for quite a long time watching the geese and ducks. You can see that the sun had gone down. π

Now they don’t have to duck.

There is some sadness about an empty lake as summer nears its end. Here, we just want some sun and less wind. Today, perhaps. Happy Thursday, Lynette. Allan

Thank you so much, Allan. Northern Alberta didnβt get a great summer.
Yes, there is something sad about an empty lake at summerβs end – the fun is over for another season.

I love a fire on the beach! We meant to do one before returning north but ran out of time. Next summer for sure. π

Lovely photos and words. And you are once again invigorating my need to dwell near water. I want to remain on that beach at the end of the sunburnt day, slipping quietly into my little cottage and dreaming blog-story dreams…

I am happy to stoke your wishes. π Sometimes we get reminders of these wishes floating past us; weβre ready to notice them then. Our home is across the park from this beach. Not a cottage but somewhat close. π

Great quote. π I like them as well. So much fun to watch them (and so great to have the time to do so). π

Oh so true. Great piece and I just love the photography that accompanies the words. The beach is glorious but we borrow from nature what is hers. I like the silence of the pictures. Thank you. Love Joni

Thank you very much. π You are very welcome.
It is a very lovely beach and we are fortunate enough to live across a park from it.
Yes, itβs important to remember that we are just borrowing.

Tourists are like the tide… they surge in & out, and “real life” surges also in a complementary dance, out & in …
