This is Skaha Lake in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. I spent a lot of time there while on summer holidays.
It is very serene …

… and placid. Soothing and relaxing and exactly what water and sun and fresh air and nature can do for a tired human being.

A beautiful day in the neighbourhood.
Happy Tuesday. 🙂
Soothing post, indeed. I have a fundamental need to be near water, an urge that has increased over the decades, despite me not being anywhere near such, at least not permanently. Luckily, Partner feels the same, and perhaps one day we will settle into a quite enclave where our needs can be met. Well, at least one of them… 😉

Being near water is just so right for me. I would prefer the ocean, but the lakes of the Okanagan Valley are wonderful. I hope you get your wish and can settle next to a nice body of water. 🙂

The duck in the second photo looks like it’s thinking – look at those funny featherless birds over there and their weird eye which keeps clicking.
That’s so rugged and so smooth. Early morning or evening?
We’re having another heatwave in the UK right now, so that lake looks particularly inviting.

Hahaha! Yes! 🙂
That was taken in the evening around 7 p.m. The lakes of the southern Okanagan Valley have that contradiction because they are at the very tip of the Sonoran Desert and have some of those deserty characteristics going on. The lakes and area of the northern valley are beautiful in a more conventional (Canadian) way.
We were just getting ready to leave after a lovely couple of hours. It had been a very hot day with 37C. Yes, I heard that the UK is hot. Is it cooling off much at night? Being able to sleep makes a lot of difference.

Nothing like a day by the water (lake or sea) to calm one down and give a sense of place. It would be a bit chilly this morning in my neck of the woods, though. Allan

That’s so true. I have a very busy job, so my chance to enjoy the lake during the summer is precious.

My bike rides invariably include Skaha lake, and tried breakfast at marina on Sunday. Nice spot for morning coffee.

Yes, the two lakes are so beautiful early in the morning, but then again, I find them beautiful all the time!
Yes, it’s nice to sit next to Skaha for breakfast. 🙂

What I always loved about Skaha Lake is how warm- (ish) depending on the time of year- and shallow it is.
A person can just lounge about to their heart's content and pretend to be a mermaid 🙂

I agree – happy sigh. 🙂
Yes, it’s shallow enough to warm up quite nicely, but it still felt so beautifully cool on those 37C days. The lounging – yes! I love that! 🙂
