We recently took a short trip to Tofino, British Columbia. It’s famous for its stunning beaches, surf, fabulous old-growth forests, and as a gateway to eco-travelling.
Many people also come to Tofino in the fall to see the storm waves crashing on the shore.
Tofino is on the Pacific Ocean, and the next stop is Japan. Those waves have plenty of time to work up a good head of steam before throwing themselves at the land.
The power of the waves pushed this giant log ashore; a surfer could be a very easy matter.
This beautiful location on the western edge of Vancouver Island is a total jewell.

I see you visited Chestermans beach Lynette. When its too rough to go out in my boat,I ride out to Chesty for sunset shots. My favourite spot is on Frank island looking westward towards Lennard island lighthouse.

oh yes! i remember Tofino, beautiful place, but too much wind when i was there, we couldn’t stand on the beach.

Yes – really beautiful. I have heard that it can get very windy in the fall – people come to watch the waves/storms. Almost no wind at all when we went. Very calm.

There is a lot of driftwood on that coast. I picked up a few small pieces and brought them home with me. So beautifully smooth, like velvet.
