Usually I post flower pictures on Fridays, but seeing as we’re only two days away from the official start of winter, the pickings are rather few and far between, to say the least. However, since we have a lot of this going on …

… I thought some of this would be welcome.

Or maybe a seasonal light tunnel …

… as well as illuminated trees …

… in seasonal fashion.

Always so enlightening to see …

… at this time of year!

Happy Friday.
Fairy lights are a seasonal treat. Happy Friday! 🎄

Happy Friday back at you, Lynette! Many of us look forward to the shortest day as a turning point in the year, but dark nights have their own enchantment xx

Thank you very much, Jo. 😊 I’m definitely looking forward to that particular turning point but as you point out, the dark nights are certainly enchanting. Watching the reactions of small children is especially endearing. 🎄

Welcome indeed Lynette. Too cold and snowy to go out here, so we just looked at the coloured lights in our backyard. Happy Friday. Allan

Thanks, Allan. I can understand why, Allan. I think you’re around -20? I would be looking at the backyard lights, too. We actually have +6 and beautiful blue sky today! An unexpected extra bit of very welcome sun.

Beautiful, colourful photos, Lynette! I wonder who climbed high into that one tree to hang the lights?

Our small city goes all out with the decorations at all times of year and has an entire department just for gardens. No one climbed into the trees; they used a sort of large cherry-picker to hang these over-size tree decorations. I featured just one tree but there are a number of them with these ornaments. 🎄 Cheers.

I obviously didn’t think of that, doink! 😂 I was a serious tree climber when I was a kid…

Thank you very much, Tricia. 😊 They are lovely to see when it’s so dark and damp. The city will leave these up until about January 10 or so, which starts getting us past the winter hump. Cheers.
