I like how the mallard ducks seem to get on with almost everybody.

They are tolerated by the notoriously grumpy and aggressive Canada geese …

… and by the extremely nervous quail.

But those are other birds. Nevertheless, they clearly aren’t bothered by a whole other species swimming underneath them …

… even when the fish pop up to grab a bug.
If we could all get along this well – or perhaps ignore each other this well – our world might be a very calm place.
Happy Tuesday.

They are resilient too. They can even stay in Finland for the winter! 😉

Agreed! They definitely are. I’ve seen them in the far north of this country during winter, too. They’re much tougher than they look.

Mallards are definitely the calm ones in a pond, although of we startle them on our walks they all take off quacking as if to tell us we are harshing their mellow. I always like to study how marvelous the feather patterns are on mallards and other water birds. Have a great Tuesday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. When I lived in southern Alberta I remember them doing that if I surprised them. I was never sure if it was me making too much noise and yes, harshing their mellow or if it was because I usually had a dog with me. The ones here are very habituated to humans (and dogs) and just seem to have a live and let live attitude.

The expression “like water off a duck’s back” is a perfect fit for mallards. 😊. Sweet photos, Lynette!

Thank you very much, Belinda. 😊 Yes, their behaviour probably lead to that phrase! The ones here are extremely laid back.

I hope they don’t get their toes nibbled.

Hahaha. 😊 They don’t seem to bother each other at all.

I wonder of the fish nibble on the ducks feet? 😂

Hahaha. 😊 Nope, the fish and ducks don’t see each other as lunch. 😉

Your pictures have such intensity.

That’s an interesting observation, Bernie. I can be a rather intense person. Or certainly was when I was younger!

It’s the clarity and the colors that you manage in your photos that make them so vivid. Maybe that would have been a better word than intense.

Thank you very much for your lovely explanation, Bernie. 😊 I do like vivid colours; red is my favourite. Cheers.

Agreed, Lynette. Many need to apply this to their lives; especially a certain politician and his cabinet members.

Definitely. Not only that individual but many of these so-called leaders. Wouldn’t it be great if they just minded their own business? I’m in cloud cuckoo land, though. Ugh.

It would at that. We can only hope.

The mallards seem to have “live and let live” as their motto. Lovely that your little one likes them so much. They’re very tolerant of small children, too. 😊
