Earth and Sky

From a morning ramble a few days ago …

… a rather hungry deer …

… who seemed in need of good food and a quiet place to recuperate from some physical damage. She seems to be recovering well, though. It looked as though she had found some delicious leaves and a safe spot near the marina.

And then later …

… I watched the human “wildlife” in the form of the Snowbirds, the Royal Canadian Air Force’s military aerobatics flight demonstration team …

… do some practise runs over Okanagan Lake. They will be doing an air show here later this week.

Happy Wednesday.

  1. A good mix on the day Lynette. Always nice to see the deer and what a treat to get a good view of the Snowbirds. They did a short show over Edmonton a few days ago, but we did not see them down our way. Have a great day. Allan

    1. Thanks, Allan. We’re looking forward to seeing them since it’s been a long time. That little doe hadn’t been eating well and also seems to have escaped a bear or something. She had a lot of healing injuries, but seemed to be recovering well when I saw her.

    1. They always put on such a great show and I’m looking forward to watching them again as it’s been a while.
I think that deer may have escaped a bear and then maybe lost weight because she couldn’t get around for a bit. She has a lot of healing injuries but now seems to be recovering well.

  2. I love watching the Snowbirds do their acrobatics. They are so talented. Wonderful to see their maneuvers.

The doe actually looks better than some of the ones we’ve had around town here. There were just too many of them and nothing but geraniums to eat once they lived in town rather than in the hills where they would do better.

    1. So do I, Anneli. I love watching them fly; it’s a sky ballet!
I think that poor little doe escaped a bear or perhaps some pine martins (they will attack deer from above) as she had a lot of healing injuries and maybe couldn’t get around much for a bit as she also seemed really underweight. When I saw her she seemed to be recovering well, however.

    1. Thank you very much. 😊 That poor little deer had an encounter with a bear or other predator, I think. She had lots of healing surface injuries. Nature is pretty tough.

I love watching the Snowbirds. Such fun!

    1. There was! I think the deer will be okay; she seems to be healing well. I think she may have escaped a bear attack and then had some difficulties getting around which would account for how under-weight she is. She’s a survivor, though!

Definitely fun and unexpected watching the Snowbirds. A couple of days later we saw their show. Always fantastic.
