We have been getting lots of thunderstorm warnings recently and certainly they have been all around us with their distant rumbling and even their high winds and rains, but nothing directly up until now. The skies they produce however can be quite amazing as they roil past us. It’s worth noting that I haven’t made any adjustments to the colour of these photos; this is just as the camera (and I) saw those clouds.

The sunset reflects off the white cumulus features of these water-laden clouds …

… spreading an almost eerie glow throughout the whole area …

… that briefly intensified as more towering cumulonimbus clouds moved in. An oddly beautiful sight, but one to be respected.
Happy Monday.
Amazing cloud photos.

It is the season for big skies Lynette. We were supposed to get some rain yesterday afternoon and this AM, but all we got was the clouds and thunder. Have a great Monday. Allan

Thanks, Allan. Yes, I understand. We didn’t get any rain from these clouds either, they just passed through and then it was clear again. It has been quite hot and even though we had quite a good rain Friday night, more rain wouldn’t hurt. Cheers.

A lot more to a thunderstorm than dark clouds!

For sure. For a bit they did look quite menacing and I heard some rumbling too but then they broke up. Cheers.

An angry and beautiful sky! ☺️

Yes, it definitely was, John. It passed over without any lightening, thunder, rain or wind, though. Just a very menacing looking sky for a bit. Cheers.

That is like the monsoon rains here, it hasn’t rained much this summer but some very nasty storms have passed nearby.

We have towering cumulonimbus clouds (those are the thunderstorm clouds) building right now outside our windows, but we’ll see if they deliver a storm or go around us.

I hope you get some rain! It rains so little here. 😭

Thanks, it would definitely help to clean the smoke out of the air!

For sure, Anneli, in more ways than one. I hope you’re not being affected too badly by that forest fire on the Island.

Thanks for caring, Lynette, but no, those fires are mostly in the woodsy area that are not very populated.

You’re welcome, Anneli. We suddenly seem to have fires all over right now.

I’ve always enjoyed a good thunderstorm. We haven’t had too many this summer. But then again, we haven’t had much rain. Beautiful captures of the clouds.

Thank you, Linda. The thunderstorms on the prairies often bring hail, so when I lived there it was a matter of worrying about how much damage might be done, but I remember enjoying them when I was a child. No, you haven’t had much rain at all.

Love the colours! And I get the no edits no filters as we have wild skies out here that some can’t believe are real

Those clouds really were quite something. I agree, Bernie. Hard to believe that this is how they looked but that’s how they looked!
