Michael de Adder is a Canadian freelance editorial cartoonist who lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

His cartoons, while humorous, sarcastic and satirical, also encapsulate in a single drawing the central kernel of any political or social situation.

Over the years he has taken on very controversial topics and everything else in between from local politics to international issues. By turns, he exposes the foolishness, cruelty and stupidity of the central players in the often opportunistically generated predations that they impose on others.

At one point, he was terminated by a media outlet for his anti-Trump cartoons; this particular outlet had connections to U.S. interests that apparently tried to stop the spread of his criticisms.

Brilliant! I’ve shared your post on BlueSkySocial, where there is a huge number of anti-Trump users.

Thank you very much, Stuart. de Adder regularly contributes to a newspaper to which I subscribe (the Globe and Mail) and I always look forward to his cartoons. He skewers our politicians too. Cheers.

Sometimes, political cartoons miss the mark, but these are spot on. As to silencing criticism, this seems to be widespread in America now and I wonder what the difference is between America and Russia or Iran, who have been roundly criticized for silencing free speech. I also wonder when they will come for Stephen Colbert.

I agree, Allan. His cartoons are brilliant and sometimes very, very pointed. He doesn’t hold back at all. There’s little difference among Iran, the U.S. and Russia (I never thought I would ever say something like that but here we are. Still sometimes can’t believe it.). M is convinced that Putin bankrolled Trump – long before Musk – and possibly as far back as his first campaign because even then Trump was near bankruptcy. I think they’re coming for a lot of people. Unbelievable.

These are great. Although the fork in the plug is funny, shooting himself in the foot is my fav 😊

The foot-shooting one is my favourite, too. Describes that despot right down to a tee!

He’s spot on with his depictions of trump, which unfortunately for most US citizens, is very frightening.

He sure is, isn’t he? I agree, Tricia. He’s destroying the U.S. at every turn, it seems (it’s going to be difficult but we’re starting to be in a position to thwart him as long as we’re not the next Ukraine sandwiched between him and Russia). My husband, M, believes that Putin bankrolled him (long before Musk got involved) and that Trump is now answering to him.

I think your husband is correct there; Putin and Musk. 😳

Great comics. The drawing style plus the commentary is spot on.

I’m still very unhappy that this guy slapped Canada with a tariff! 😡

Thanks for your support, John. We are too of course but they are going to really affect the U.S. economy as well.

Yep, and my sister made me aware this afternoon about something else that makes me unhappy. I feel almost sad that I voted for him… 🇨🇦❤️

These gave me a good chuckle. The future doesn’t look bright, but it always helps to have a good sense of humour.

Glad to hear you had a chuckle. We do have to keep our sense of humour through this, don’t we? Cheers.
