Today is the anniversary of the day we met, which is the one we celebrate rather than our wedding. We were married in Banff on a beautifully sunny August day, but it was mostly a formality …

… as we had long since decided that we wanted to be together.

And so the day that we met became the important one. We’re going to Kelowna for a meal in a good restaurant with an overnight stay included – so that we can enjoy a good bottle of wine without concern – ahead of the new year celebrations.

Happy Monday.
Have a wonderful celebration together, and happy New Year, when it comes!

Time shifting the day to celebrate an anniversary or important moment makes perfect sense. Have a great visit to Kelowna and enjoy your celebration Lynette. Allan

Thank you very much, Allan. December 30 has always been “the” important day for us to the point that we sometimes forget our wedding date! Cheers.

Happy anniversary Lynette (we celebrate 20th March for exactly the same reason!). Nice to have it close to new year and run one celebration into another. Enjoy…and have a great 2025….

Thank you very much. We have been known to forget our wedding anniversary or to belatedly remember it only at the end of the day! Best wishes (and safe travels) to you for 2025!

Thank you very much, Maggie. Yes, I made an error – thinking of one photo while captioning another – that’s since been corrected. Cheers.

Snap! We also celebrate the day we met, way back in August 1986. But we also celebrate our wedding anniversary. And, usually, we do this either at a place we can walk home from or, like you, with an overnight stay.
Congratulations!

Thank you very much, Stuart. 😊 We sometimes have forgotten our wedding date or only remembered it late in the day. It’s between our birthdays (July 30, August 2, August 6) and so we often celebrate all three dates at once. It’s great to be able to walk to a restaurant or just spend the night if farther away.

I understand completely, Lynette. It was much the same for us, so the meeting date is much more meaningful. Congrats on your happy day.

I have absolutely no idea when we met. We had been communicating via email through work a few months before we met in person. But we married on my birthday so a double celebration. Have a lovely celebration, and I wish you a wonderful 2025…

Thank you very much, Jude. Happy 2025 to you, too. Your meeting story sounds lovely as does your double celebration. We sometimes forget our wedding date or only remember it late in the day despite having located it between our birthdays (July 30, August 2, August 6), but then again, we’re trying to deliberately forget those …

Hi Linda, we placed our wedding between our birthdays (July 30, August 2, August 6) so that we could celebrate them all together, but we sometimes don’t remember August 2 until late in the day. I think that’s really because we see our lives as having changed when we met, so that feels like the important date for us. Cheers.
