Anniversary

Today is the anniversary of the day we met, which is the one we celebrate rather than our wedding. We were married in Banff on a beautifully sunny August day, but it was mostly a formality …

Canmore’s Three Sisters Mountains; from an April, 2024 visit to Banff and Canmore.

… as we had long since decided that we wanted to be together.

A recent cloud break over Okanagan Lake.

And so the day that we met became the important one. We’re going to Kelowna for a meal in a good restaurant with an overnight stay included – so that we can enjoy a good bottle of wine without concern – ahead of the new year celebrations.

Happy Monday.

  1. Time shifting the day to celebrate an anniversary or important moment makes perfect sense. Have a great visit to Kelowna and enjoy your celebration Lynette. Allan

  2. Snap! We also celebrate the day we met, way back in August 1986. But we also celebrate our wedding anniversary. And, usually, we do this either at a place we can walk home from or, like you, with an overnight stay.

    Congratulations!

    1. Thank you very much, Stuart. 😊 We sometimes have forgotten our wedding date or only remembered it late in the day. It’s between our birthdays (July 30, August 2, August 6) and so we often celebrate all three dates at once. It’s great to be able to walk to a restaurant or just spend the night if farther away.

  3. I have absolutely no idea when we met. We had been communicating via email through work a few months before we met in person. But we married on my birthday so a double celebration. Have a lovely celebration, and I wish you a wonderful 2025…

    1. Thank you very much, Jude. Happy 2025 to you, too. Your meeting story sounds lovely as does your double celebration. We sometimes forget our wedding date or only remember it late in the day despite having located it between our birthdays (July 30, August 2, August 6), but then again, we’re trying to deliberately forget those …

    1. Hi Linda, we placed our wedding between our birthdays (July 30, August 2, August 6) so that we could celebrate them all together, but we sometimes don’t remember August 2 until late in the day. I think that’s really because we see our lives as having changed when we met, so that feels like the important date for us. Cheers.
