Richmond

On our way back home from Victoria, we stopped in Richmond which is just south of Vancouver. M grew up there and we took a little tour around to his old teenage haunts.

The seafront has an eclectic mix of fishing vessels, sail boats, restaurants, coffee shops and townhomes.

After the wind storm that walloped Victoria and Vancouver had died off, the weather was gorgeous with a flat ocean calm and clear, sunny skies.

The weather was so good, in fact, that I spotted someone paddling an ocean kayak (the small red vessel toward the mid-right of the photo).

Sunny December days are a gift and we certainly enjoyed this one, especially after the weekend’s storm.

Happy Monday.

  1. You had a beautiful day for your visit Lynette. We used to take the bus out to Steveston on our visits until we found good fish and chips closer to home. Happy Monday. Allan

    1. Thanks, Allan. We did. M hadn’t been back in about 30 years so of course much had changed but some things hadn’t at all. M knew a good seafood restaurant and he had fish and chips which were apparently quite good and he greatly enjoyed. I like them as well but my stomach is rejecting deep frying these days, unfortunately! Interesting that you had some trouble finding good fish and chips in Vancouver. Cheers.

      1. We used to go to Pajos in Steveston for the first few years, but once we found Go Fish by Granville Island, we have not been back. I am sure there are a ton of other places in Vancouver offering good fish and chips, but not many with the price or view we have at Go Fish. Allan

    1. Hi Klaus, you’re very welcome; my pleasure. Richmond used to be a hardworking fishing town with lots of canneries but it has changed so much. The fisheries are still there but the fish processors have moved to freezing so the canneries are gone. The seafront neighbourhood has become very mixed and interesting as a result. Thank you very much for your holiday and new year wishes. Cheers. 🎄
