Happy Thanksgiving 🍂

It’s the season of colour …

… bright green with red accents …

… and crunching through yellow …

… and being enveloped by blue sky reds and yellows …

… the one time of year that brings all of us together in gratitude, regardless of culture, or religion, or background.

    1. There should be more than that. Here in Canada there have been two terrible fire seasons in a row. 2023 was extraordinarily bad, so I would say that fire is probably contributing a lot to tree loss.

Here’s a piece about what happened here: https://natural-resources.canada.ca/simply-science/canadas-record-breaking-wildfires-2023-fiery-wake-call/25303

Then there’s logging. Much of it here has been stopped or limited to farmed trees grown specifically for logging, but it continues unchecked in a lot of places. Cheers.

  1. Happy Thanksgiving weekend Lynette. Fall is in all its glory as we give thanks for the harvest and season. We had our first frost yesterday and the leaves dropped off my Amur Cherries as if some magic signal was given. Enjoy your weekend. Allan

    1. Thank you very much, Allan. It’s amazing how that happens. I’m still in awe of it even after so many years of seeing it. The row of honey locust trees along Okanagan Lake beach were green on Friday but yesterday they had started to turn; there were yellow bits everywhere. We haven’t had any frost yet; our lows are around 7 or 8 still but it will arrive. You and Patty enjoy your weekend, too. Cheers.

  2. I’m glad you’re showing these photos now because soon enough (too soon) there will be only ugly, bare branches left with the icy wind whistling through them. Good to enjoy this beautiful season while it’s still with us. Happy Thanksgiving.

    1. Thank you very much, Anneli. Yes, it’s much too short and it won’t be long before the branches are bare, unfortunately. By about mid to late November the wind will be whistling through our leafless trees. In thinking about that I am already looking forward to spring, but I have lots of summer and autumn pictures in storage for the colder months. 😊 Cheers.

    1. Thank you very much, Linda. We aren’t having turkey but an old favourite instead, lamb. I’ve been saving up my appetite for it since I don’t eat much meat any more, but I think I might be joining you in the full department by this evening! Cheers.
