They are beautiful birds. I have never lived in a place where we saw them.

They sure are. We have the same species here in Canada as they were introduced about 200 years ago. They have integrated well without causing deleterious effects; they like to occupy grasslands and aren’t in direct competition with other species. I saw many of them when I lived on the prairies. Our native “partridge,” which is actually a grouse, occupies woodlands.
