Could it be that spring is on the way?

I thought so until I found out that robins typically over-winter here in the Okanagan. But I’m ever hopeful …
Happy Friday; happy weekend.

I choose to focus on Sarah’s gorgeous voice and not listen too closely to the lyrics. 😊 Thanks for sending this song. I thought of her and Billie Holiday yesterday while listening to a recording of Ella Fitzgerald live at Carnegie Hall in 1978. Those three had such amazing voices, but I think I like Sarah’s best.

I agree, Lynette. Those three are the holy trinity of female jazz vocalists, IMHO. Sarah’s rendition of SPRING WILL BE A LITTLE LATE THIS YEAR is as good as it gets.

Yes, stunningly beautiful voices. Sarah’s lower register and the texture she imparted to certain pieces is astounding. She had such an instrument and knew how to get the best from it.

I am going to take the robin as a good sign. If they are out and about, spring can’t be far away. Happy Friday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan.
I hadn’t seen any robins since late October, so I’m going to count this as a good sign too!

Are you kidding me! You’re making me wonder why I’m in Calgary!!

Yes, the robins are out and about. Apparently they stay here year-round, so our area might not be the best signal of spring (but I’m going to think of it that way!). Cheers.

It’s a very good sign😊. I love robins and he’s a handsome one!

Yes, I love them too. 😊 If he’s an overwintering bird then he came through in good form, but I agree; I’m choosing to see him as a good sign.

I too think of Robins as spring. What a stout little bird!

I love robins and yes, especially how stout they are. So cute.

We have a lot of these birds here in the winter too!

I think this one might have overwintered but I’m choosing to see him as a sign of spring anyway! Cheers.

When I lived in Dawson Creek, robins were definitely a sign of spring, and even more so were the bluebirds (which we only saw once in a very long while). But here on Vancouver Island, there are robins everywhere, especially when there is new snow on the hills and the birds come down to the lower elevations.

I don’t think I ever saw a robin in NWT – just too far north for them, I think. I believe that robins overwinter on Vancouver Island, so you would definitely see lots of them. They apparently do here, as well. If this guy spent the winter, he came out in pretty good shape as he looks healthy. But I’m choosing to see him as a sign of spring anyway, whether he spent the winter or not!

They do seem to come out of the “woodwork” at this time of year.

So great to see them; they’re such sweet birds.

Nice shot of that cute little robin. According to the results from Groundhog Day in Ontario, they’re predicting an early spring here.

It was so foggy and misty here that there was no chance a groundhog was going to see its shadow, so I’m hopeful that spring will arrive early here, too. The robin seems to agree!

I associate robins with spring as well; they’re a hopeful sign.

They may be overwintering but I’m also choosing to see them as a spring harbinger! Cheers.
