What an ordeal to put people through. I thought Germany had a reputation for efficiency, but apparently that is long gone. I flew to Frankfort some 40 years ago and the flights both ways went without a hitch. I’m glad my long distance traveling days are over!

Agreed. I lived in Germany in the 1990s and at that time Lufthansa reminded me of my military transport days. It was pretty utilitarian. Germans I knew used to make very negative comments about it, but it was on time and efficient. I haven’t flown with Lufthansa for about 10 years now, but it seems their remaining reputation has bitten the dust.
Flying in general is very safe but unless you’re going first class, business or private (which most of us can’t afford) it has become a cattle box with wings.
