We did a walk today to see if a familiar palm tree along the beach is still there.

It is! It has suffered a bit and another palm that used to be next to it is gone, but this tree has weathered storms and high seas and remains steadfast.

Here it is in late 2019 – this is our first time back since the start of covid in March, 2020 – but we do recognise it and its location. The shoreline has changed and the other palm has disappeared, but “our” palm tree is still there. Sometimes, it’s nice to know that the familiar, however altered, carries forward.
Happy Wednesday.

I completely agree!

Consistency is a nice anchor in life. Love the tropical photos. Heading for a rainy weekend here in Van. Trying to get out and about today. Happy Wednesday Lynette. Allan

I always feel that it’s a nice anchor as long as it doesn’t take over. As much as change can drive me bonkers, it’s what keeps us healthy.
I’ve been keeping an eye on Penticton; it has mostly been in the high single digits but looks like it’s going to the -1 neighbourhood at the end of this week.
Stay dry, Allan. I hope you’re enjoying family time with your new little addition. Cheers.

I think so too 😊

Agreed – we need at least some consistency at least. 🙂

Very observant. I wonder – do trees get lonely?

Thank you, Anneli. I’ve read about some research indicating that they maybe do. Here’s an interesting article on the subject.

Thanks for the link. I’ve skimmed through it but may take more time with it later – it’s quite long. I’m not convinced one way or another, but it’s an interesting idea to ponder, and I can’t dismiss it entirely.

I can’t say that I’m convinced either, but it’s an interesting piece and something to consider. Cheers.

Definitely. Right on the beach like that is not the best spot when autumn storms start rolling in.

It’s interesting to see how much the shoreline has changed in a few years. That’s the thing about beaches (and nature in general), change is inevitable. But it’s nice to also have some constants, even if they are temporary.

I agree. We were surprised to see just how much it had changed in 3.5 years, but there had apparently been a couple of quite bad storms that significantly re-arranged the shoreline. Yes, beaches are definitely particularly susceptible.
