Even though we recently had our first frost, the dahlias have been continuing to do well.

Bright and pretty, they probably won’t last long after we have a hard frost, so I’m happy to enjoy them as much as possible before waiting until spring to see them again.

The lovely green and yellow reminds us that even through we’re transitioning to winter, the beauties of new spring life aren’t far.

Happy Sunday.
So pretty. You certainly have more clinging blooms than us, or are at least better at finding them!

The dahlias and hardier roses are still looking pretty good even though we have had a couple of mild frosts. The killing frosts will arrive soon though and the dahlias will be done for the year. These were in an area of Penticton’s rose garden.

A beautiful flower. My Mom always had dahlias and they remind me of her. Happy Sunday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. They are so pretty. My mom also had them and I think used to cover them against killing frosts for as long as she could.

Beautiful! We had our first frost this week, and the plants have done okay. We moved most of them inside, and Nate covered the banana trees for the winter.

Yes, many of ours came through as well, but the hard or killing frosts are coming soon. It’s just a matter of time. Banana trees will definitely need cover. Cheers.

This must have been THE year for dahlias. Your photos are delightful and remind me that I really want to plant some of these flowers next year.

Now that you mention it, I have noticed quite a few of them around. My mother used to have them and I suppose they fell out of fashion for a bit. They are so pretty and hardy, as well. Cheers.

So beautiful colors in your photos! Hopefully the frost does not come yet, so you have more time to enjoy your beautiful flowers.

Thank you very much; they are very pretty. The hard frost will inevitably arrive, but yes, I hope it takes a while!

Yellow is such a happy colour, and dahlias are another of my favourite flowers. Their flowers are so sturdy and proud. Do you have these growing by your house or are they in a park?

Hi Anneli, I don’t have a garden any more, just the pots on my deck. These are in a nearby public garden although today I saw that they have been either trimmed back or pulled for winter. I think I would like some for my little deck garden next year. Cheers.

I think they would make a great deck plant.

So pretty, Lynette. We went to a mum exhibit yesterday (so many different kinds!!) and so I’m in a flower mood ☺️

They sure are. 🙂 There are so many kinds and they always last so beautifully. I’m already thinking of some for next year!
