I found a group of sunflowers growing seemingly of their own accord among a gaggle of unkempt roses and weeds.

The plants themselves were leaning badly but were still interesting to pollinators (and flower photographers).

Sunflowers are such iconic representatives of autumn with their lovely sunny faces.

Happy sunflower Wednesday.
Did you tell them to “lean on me”>? Sunflowers are the definition of “sunny”. 🙂 Happy Wednesday, Lynette!

Beautiful bursts of sunshine Lynette. Something we could use. Still no end to our grey dull, smoky days. It is always tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes. Happy Wednesday. Allan

Thank you, Allan.
That’s awful and I understand how you feel. M and I felt trapped inside almost like it was pandemic times again. I’m wishing you three days of slow showers in a row. That seemed to do the trick here as the air cleared and the local fires came under control. Fingers crossed for a rainy Beaumont.

I think that about people–the bravery of smiling in the face of the unknown, looking right into the camera with a grin. These sunflowers do that, too.

That’s such a great connection, Jacqui. The sunflowers are definitely doing that, looking out from their scraggly dirt patch.

Last year we had a few unexpected sunflowers pop up where we used to have our birdfeeder. We’d taken it away from that spot, and some dropped seeds took root. It was in a spot in the front yard next to our evergreens so it gave the area some color. 🌻🙂

It’s always amazing to find flowers growing in the most unlikely of locations. I tried to plant some in my backyard last year, but the chipmunks had other ideas.

I agree; it’s always such a nice surprise. Yes, chipmunks or squirrels can be a problem that way. You could get around that by starting them inside and then transplanting them (my mother used to do that). Cheers.
