We had some rain today, a very good thing. It wasn’t a lot, but at least everything is damp.

We were on the edge of a large thunderstorm; the wind suddenly came up, we could hear the big boomers, and of course, the skies darkened dramatically.

Except for the light rain shower, the storm passed us by though. Afterward, the clouds began to break up and were underlit by the setting sun, a lovely side effect of the near-storm.
Happy Saturday.
Nice captures. Summer skies are so beautiful. We had a wonderful sunrise here this AM but not likely much rain for awhile. Just hot. Happy weekend Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. I agree; summer skies are beautiful in their endless variation. Sorry to hear about the lack of rain; fingers crossed for you (without tornadoes!).

Hi Lynette – these are really pretty and as you said, a nice side effect of the storm. We went through a really dry period here in the northeast, now it’s rain, rain, rain. We had torrential rain yesterday for about 2 hours – straight down with no wind!

Thank you very much. 🙂 We aren’t too hard up yet for rain as there were lots of showers throughout June but they are tapering off now and our temperatures are getting high (36C/97F). This is good for the wine grapes but then the forest fire risk goes up. We need to keep our showers, especially the straight down, soaking kind. Good to hear that your dry period was alleviated but you don’t need floods, either!

Yes – we have flash flood warnings today for our county, but not in the township we live in. It’s been the straight down rain again today. A nice rainbow last night!

Wow! The whole of N. America seems to be experiencing extremes right now with droughts, fires, too much rain … it’s crazy.

Beautiful color in the clouds. We are currently at the end of a pretty torrential downpour but just with gray skies. Lost power for about two minutes.

Yes, these clouds were beautiful – we’re situated in a good location to see this phenomenon fairly often. It would be great if we could borrow a little of your rain as we’re beginning to get quite dry.

I envy you the rain, even a sprinkle of it. Beautiful sky!

It would be great if we had a little more, but at least we’re getting some. Yes, the colours were lovely. 🙂

Though the clouds didn’t bring much rain they sure contributed to a beautiful sunset!

Thank you very much, Linda. Our deck is well-situated to capture views of the clouds with sun reflections. The colours are sometimes extraordinary.
