The foxes in southern Canada are red or reddish-blond while the northern ones are reddish-black and black or silver black. They are so beautiful! This one looks big because he’s wearing a very thick winter coat, but they aren’t very tall, about the same height as a medium-sized dog.

I saw this one while out walking a couple of days ago. Foxes are common in this area; some of them live in town and are used to but wary of humans.

Yes, the subarctic foxes vary in colour quite a lot, from the very red to black and black and silver.
