The Mandarin duck is said to be the most beautiful, but I think this fellow is in close running. If you like this photo, you should take a wander through Cindy’s site; she is a very talented photographer.

Yesss! We saw them out on Burnaby Lake this past week. They’re called “wood” ducks because they nest and rest in trees. Yes, they do. We watched them demonstrate exactly that. And we saw wood-duck-specific bird houses (duck houses, I suppose) up in trees, just for them. Just one more reason to think them amazing. (As if their looks weren’t enough.)
