I am on holidays right now and am taking a little breather to Vancouver Island.
We left this morning via ferry from West Vancouver and are heading to Nanaimo.
Here’s a photo of our crossing through Howe Sound.

We are taking a few days to relax. π

Enjoy Lynette. We just got back after a week on the island and a week and a half in Vancouver. Visited Saltspring Island for the first time, as well. Allan

Thank you. π After working in NWT it’s really great to go to a city and enjoy warmer weather – I don’t even mind the rain. π

Enjoy your visit. π It’s really beautiful and there are old-growth trees that are about 1000 years old, some are older. There was quite a fight about 30 years ago to save them from logging.

Do you perhaps have room for someone willing to carry your luggage for you? We had a blizzard today, Lynette, that the National Weather service describes as “a record breaking bomb cyclone”. I aim to take a vacation myself just as fast and as soon as I can.

Oh my. A bomb cyclone! Sounds gruesome. I am usually the one experiencing the cold weather and am really enjoying this break from it. It’s still -15C where I work in NWT and there’s lots of snow. Enjoy planning for and taking your break! π

Tofino awaits

I am here! We more or less skipped Ucluelet because we couldn’t find a vacancy (this trip was pretty spur of the moment) but we spent a good bit of time walking there and also on Chesterman Beach in the sun yesterday. Unfortunately I have to work today (unexpectedly and I am pissed about it to put it mildly) and will be missing a trip to Meares Island. It is so besutiful – we just love it. We are here for a half-day tomorrow and then off to Victoria. Thanks for your suggestions – much appreciated. I hope to get back soon . π

unfortunately as you already know we are having a bit of rain today.
If you come back and have more time I’d be happy to show you both around Lynette!

btw,we locals say it as “Ukee”. You say that and it’ll fool the locals into thinking your familiar with the area.

Yes – Ukee! Certainly easier to say, too! π

Ucluelet means “safe harbour”. All us loco locals just call it Ukee!
