A couple of weeks ago we did some dogsitting for a friend of ours. Nan is a northern girl who looks to be half Exquimaux or Siberian husky and half German shepherd. She is very tall with incredibly slim delicate features and very soft fur.
No matter what her DNA says, she’s an amazingly even-tempered pooch who could probably turn the most determined dog-disliking person into a canine advocate. Gentle and cuddly, she loves to play and run and be fussed over and petted.

I’m afraid that M and I spoiled her just a little bit.
Of course, we’re missing our Rudy who passed away a couple of years ago, but maybe it’s time to bring another canine friend into our lives. 🙂
Love those eyes.

Hi Nelson, just so you know, I’ve had to “re-follow” you probably three times in the last year. I have no idea why I sometimes lose people, but I’m back. 🙂

I wish! 🙂 But alas, it’s only temporary. She really reminded us of how much we miss having a dog in our lives though.

She is a very gentle dog, especially as she’s so tall and rangy. She’s really such a wonderful canine package. 🙂

Took me a couple of years after we lost our first guy. I’m so glad we let Max into our lives now. Nan is adorable. What a treat to care for her for a while.

Somehow I missed your comment. Sorry about that.
It has been a real treat to look after her. 🙂 It has taken us a while to grieve our Rudy – he was dearly loved and is greatly missed, but I think we might be ready again.

We had a few Siberian husky/German shepherd mixes when we were growing up. They were just the sweetest dogs, although they did love to chase cars down our country road… 😉

If Nan is any example, they are terrific dogs. She loves to run but I haven’t seen her try to chase any cars. 🙂

That’s such a great way of getting some “pooch time” without having to make a full commitment, especially if you travel or are away a lot. 🙂

Hard to imagine life without furkids. With every dog we’ve had to say good-bye to, we’ve said “never again…hurts too much.” The thing is, there are so many dogs (and cats) living in cages just waiting for hearts like ours, so we do it again. Your babysittee (I made up that word) is beautiful.

Thank you. 🙂
We risk the heartbreak of losing them when we bring them into our lives, don’t we? But that’s part of love. And you’re so right – I always think of those who need homes.
Thanks for visiting. 🙂

I went up to Toronto in Dec. (!) to dog-sit for a friend and her lovely doggie, Wellington, who is a Wheaten. He is one of the nicest dogs I’ve ever met — and I’m going back in April to do it again. Looking forward to more time with him (in warmer weather!)

Toronto in Dec can be unpleasant. That’s an understatement. 🙂
Wheatens have a really nice reputation – enjoy your next dog sitting session (in better weather). 🙂
