    1. One advantage of winter flying is the smooth air at altitude but nevertheless I usually have a covered cup. I’m much more likely to spill a filter full of used coffee grounds or drop my phone down the side of the seat. 😉

        1. Most air accidents are the result of something called the ”accident chain” which means that one thing piles on another and another. It seems the proximate cause of the recent one in Toronto may have been a very hard landing that took out the gear but it’s difficult to say at this point as there may have been other, less obvious factors at play. It’s usually never just one element, though. One thing I would not do right now is fly commercially to the U.S. A former colleague doesn’t even want to fly over it. Their system is headed for chaos after Musk’s public service cuts.

  1. It’s been a few years since I’ve seen Vancouver from the air (or from the ground, for that matter). I seem to remember that our final approach was pretty low over the water.

    Lovely crisp shot 🙂

    1. Thank you very much, Adele. 😊The main orientation of this airport is east/west with approaches from each direction depending on wind (there is a crosswind runway too but it’s not used as much). You would fly over the ocean if you’re approaching from the west. That evening we approached from the east over the city since the wind was blowing from the west. Probably a bit more information than you wanted but that’s the explanation. 😊 Cheers.
