Cedar waxwings are native to North America and frequently seen during the summer. Many of them migrate south but quite a few will overwinter in southern British Columbia, especially on Vancouver Island.

It was lovely and unexpected to recently see this pretty bit of brightness.
Happy Tuesday.
Stunning Lynette.

While living in the mountains of Utah we had a Bohemian Waxwing 🐦 I never could tell the difference

The main differences are that the Bohemian waxwing is larger, it has a grey tummy rather than yellow and the area around its bill is red. Generally, they’re more colourful than the cedar waxwings. Cheers.

Waxwings are such beautiful birds. We do not get the Cedar waxwings in our area, but we do get huge flocks of Bohemian waxwings. Happy Tuesday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. The Bohemian waxwings are really pretty and they actually overwinter in Alberta. I remember seeing both kinds in southern Alberta. They love their berries!

Beautiful picture. We have Bohemian Waxwings. They remind me of teenagers when they rush from mountain ash to mountain ash in search of berries and leave a mess all over the ground. 😊 Maggie

Thank you very much, Maggie. 😊 The Bohemian waxwings are even more colourful and pretty as they rush around. I love your comparison! They definitely behave that way and do leave quite a mess. 😊
