Toronto Tower

For 32 years ending in 2007, the iconic Toronto tower was the world’s tallest freestanding structure until it was displaced by the Burj Khalifa, a skyscraper  in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

M and I have both been at the top of the tower before – as you can imagine, it has spectacular views of the city and Lake Ontario – but we felt that we didn’t need to go again. Do you see the moon to the left of the tower, above its viewing deck?

Instead, we enjoyed it from the rooftop patio of an adjacent hotel which itself provided beautiful city and lake views. Here’s one of the Skydome, where we had just watched a Blue Jays baseball game.

It was a beautifully warm, clear day, great for looking at the lay of the land!

Happy Monday.

  1. While I was working, I always hated Toronto visits because they meant work, stress and seminars. It was only after I retired that I could relax in T.O., as long as I was not driving. Glad you got there safe and had some decent weather Lynette. Happy Monday. Allan

    1. Thank you very much, Allan.

Yes, I understand. I always tended to dislike Ottawa for the same reason as trips there usually meant extremely boring seminars that were also very important. It was dig-in-and-stay-focussed-time, even as I kept drifting off to such interesting topics as buying new shoelaces.

I never had issues driving in Toronto when I was younger but we made the decision this time to drive the busiest roads only at low volume times. We have Presto cards and love using the public transport. It’s well organised and efficient.

    1. Hi Wayne, the federal government bought it from CN about 20 years ago when CN sold all its non-railway properties. Lots of people still call it the “CN Tower,” but that’s not its name now. Cheers.
