Well, more accurately, leaving.
They are everywhere and in huge numbers, swirling and crunching.

I love this colourful ground detritus, a profuse panoply of underfoot leaves that bring a smile in the weather that’s beginning to turn a bit colder now.

It’s a lovely golden, red, orange and yellow mess that’s completely environmentally safe.

But good-bye summer; as we start to experience more invigorating temperatures, we’re looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Leaves leave, that’s for sure. Well, they are somewhere nearby. The sound of them crunching underfoot is a seasonal change delight. It took a few years but I finally convinced Mary Beth to leave the leaves until spring so the little critters that need the cover have it to overwinter.

I haven’t been in a position to enjoy that crunch for a few years (I was usually working in the subarctic where by now there’s snow) but am this autumn. Yes, all sorts of little critters need the leaf cover that gathers in corners, cracks and crevices. Cheers.

So beautiful, as long as they are not on my lawn. The winds have scoured the rest of them off the trees here and we are ready for winter??? Scattered flurries arrive tonight and the high for Tuesday will be -4. Happy Sunday Lynette. Allan

Oh boy, scattered flurries. 🥶 But as you have said before, it’s inevitable. We are anticipating our first frost at the end of this week, but no snow (rain instead) and I hope basically nothing snowy until December (Penticton usually gets a couple of wet snowfalls in Dec/Jan that ordinarily don’t last long). We still have lots of leaves and many of the trees are still green; I’m really enjoying not having to anticipate digging out the driveway. 😁

Lovely shots, Lynette. The leaves really show up nicely against the sidewalk.

Thank you very much, Sue. 🙂 It was fun shuffling through them.

I still love crunching through the leaves!

I do as well; and sort of playing with them by shuffling along through them. Re-creating my childhood. 🙂

It’s such a glorious time of year! So many colors, if you look up at the trees–and down, at what they’ve left behind 🙂

Agreed – it sure is! I love all the colours everywhere and it’s coolish without being cold. So great. 🍂

We had a sunny, crisp autumn weekend here. We took the dog out to some parks and crunched those leaves under our feet. Took lots of photos but don’t think I’ll have time to post them. I remarked that the fall even has it’s own special scent of the leaves (leafing). 😊🍁🍂

We’re getting that too. Very crisp but still sunny so it’s wonderful. I agree that there’s an autumn leaf scent. I hope you get a little time to post your photos. I would love to see them. Cheers.

I love walking through all the crunchy leaves. Many of our leaves have already fallen, but there’s still a few that are clinging on.

We still have quite a few here (some trees are even still green) but we had our first frost a couple days ago so the green ones won’t last long now. Crunching through the leaves was fun as a kid and it’s still fun!
