The way of all life: a fallen giant lies on the ground, denuded of its branches. All the more reason to appreciate the one that’s still standing. 🙂

  2. What an extraordinary quote! I’d never heard it before, but how powerful it is. And of course that photo of the tree — rather the same philosophical point at the aged cherry tree I photographed, so beloved of Egan Davis.
