We recently had another very windy day with sustained winds at 70 km (44 mph) and gusts to 90 km (56 mph). It was strong enough to blow down some trees and anything unsecured in your garden might have wound up in Vancouver.

With the wind came a lot of cloud cover and we did get a bit of rain that was whipped along by the gale.

But as evening approached, the wind began to slow and we had a blazing, partially obscured sunset that was visually very stunning.
Happy Tuesday.
That must have been something to see!

It was quite impressive, Anneli. Quite a confluence of cloud and sunset colours!

Your final shot makes the windy day all so worthwhile Lynette. Were the winds from the East? Calgary had some heavy West winds that brought hail and took down trees and gardens. It was windy and damp her, but bearable. Have a good Tuesday. Allan

Thanks, Allan. We had winds out of the east initially and then they changed direction to come out of the north. We didn’t experience much of a temperature drop; it held steady around 28-29, but we had some humidity. It was a very strange system with the heavy clouds whipping past at an incredible speed. Yes I saw that Calgary was really dumped in with some flash flooding in places, too. Glad to hear that you escaped that. Cheers.

It’s been rather blustery here these past couple of days! But no trees blown down, just some cosmos in my garden. We didn’t get such a beautiful sunset either. That is rather splendid with the ‘bruised’ colours that I love.

There have been a number of these storms in the western end of the country. Calgary experienced high winds, hail and flash flooding. We didn’t get much rain, but there was humidity. That sunset was really unusual in that I couldn’t directly see it but its effects on the clouds were stunning. Cheers.

Wow! The sky looks like someone painted it for you. Those are some very strong winds that made this happen.

It was quite a weather system. I watched the wind pushing along some very dark clouds at a high rate of speed. The setting sun colours sure had an impact on them. Cheers.

Hopefully you didn’t sustain any damage. I know firsthand what can happen when the wind arrives. Beautiful sunset as a reward though.

We’re fine, Jenn. Thanks for asking. We have a deck that was quite protected but in any case I just pulled our plants out of any potential line of fire. That sunset was really quite something. Amazing.

Beautiful images! We often have strong wind days too, in Finland.

Thank you very much, Luisella. Ours are usually in late autumn and spring; a bit unusual for us at this time of year, but I think climate change is having an impact in so many ways.

WOW! I love those photos! Vibrant sky with a combination of orange and purple hues. Are there hotels with a wide view of the sky?

Thank you very much. Yes, there are. There is a good one that looks right down the lake and has that same view. Cheers.

Beautiful set of shots of the fading colours of the sunset as darkness approaches. Glad to see that your camera didn’t blow away with the wind!

Thank you very much, Linda. We have been getting lots of wind lately. Very gusty and strong enough for warnings to go out to boaters and sailors. My camera blowing away has definitely been a possibility!
