Agreed, it people don’t vote, they can’t complain!

I’m still waiting for our voters’ cards..not sure why they haven’t shown up. Perhaps because Canada Post moved us? The government knows our new address. We will vote next Monday during the day. It won’t be busy.

We only got ours last Thursday but you don’t need them in order to vote, only your id with your address on it. Exactly, the government knows our addresses. If we owed them taxes they would find us in a quick hurry! We’re not voting early either. I agree that next Monday shouldn’t be too bad. There were massive line-ups at advance voting here, though. Cheers.

We vote in a super small town and can do midday. When we worked and went after work we waited like for 15 or 20 people so not even bad then.

When I lived in Alberta I didn’t experience lineups either federally or provincially, even in Edmonton. Here it’s been more of a 15 minute wait but apparently people are being encouraged to go early as the evening is expected to be packed. Another advantage of retirement is not having to worry (for the most part) about lineups. Cheers.

Look what happened to the US when almost 30 percent of the population didn’t bother to vote. All votes count!

I agree, Carol. It looks like we’re going to get a record turnout which is a very good thing. The advance polls here had massive line-ups with large numbers, so I think most people are really placing importance on getting our voices heard. Cheers.

The timing of the election was rather unfortunate for us given our trip to New Zealand. The election was called a couple days before we left and we tried to apply to vote by special ballot but the earliest we could pick it up was the day we left for Vancouver. And we had an early morning flight. Feels weird not to vote, especially in such an important election.

Yes, that’s too bad. I know you can vote through High Commissions or embassies if you’re out of the country during an election (I did that one time) but you have to let them know in advance as the ballot is mailed, I think (although that could be different now). I bet it does feel weird, with this one in particular.
