Enjoy. 🙂
A view of Penticton from a hiking trail above the lake.
Happy Monday, happy week.
An Okanagan hike from a week ago.
These yellow daisies are still bright and pretty, even though they are fading and will be over soon.
I am back in the north and it is overcast and snowing (it will snow at least a little every day for the next six weeks), but I enjoyed a very nice autumn.
Happy Friday, happy weekend. 🙂
This lovely old stern wheeler used to travel to the remote communities around Lake Okanagan before there was a network of roads. Launched in 1914 and owned by Canadian Pacific, it was considered a luxurious vessel and transported travellers in style. Its schedule and docking in Penticton dovetailed with the nearby CP owned railway and hotel, allowing its passengers good travel connections for the time.
Once reliable all-season roads were built, the paddle wheelers eventually fell out of favour. This one, along with a couple of other boats from the period, now form a museum commemorating that earlier, slower time.
Happy mid-week.

Aren’t these flowers striking? A beautiful capture from Stuart.
I love this trail above Penticton that looks down on Lake Okanagan, and to the south, Skaha Lake.
I’ve hiked this trail countless times and have probably stopped to admire this view at every opportunity. I have taken multiple photos during these stops and at every time of year.
Here it is in its full summer glory; grape vines in the foreground, lakes and hills in the background.
Just beginning to wake up from a winter sleep. Although this was a lovely warm day, you can see that there’s still a little snow in the opposite hills at the higher elevations.
Shhh. Everyone is sleeping.
No matter the season, this view is wonderful. Comforting, constantly changing in its seasonal cycle and always beautiful, it never fails to centre me, to provide me with serenity.
Happy Monday. 🙂

A lovely plant with beautifully contrasting colours.
This Okanagan creek, lovely and luxuriant in the summer, is gently fading into autumn.
Still lovely in its decline, the true beauty is knowing it will be back.
