Back in mid-April I posted pictures of the quiet little creek that runs near our place in Penticton.

The ducks love it and even take naps there.

I had expected to find some young waddlers being shepherded by their parents on my next trip home, but …

… I instead found a very swollen, fast creek, loaded with mountain run-off. The ducks have waddled off to safer, calmer waters, as this creek is running near the top of its embankment.
Happy Thursday.
The ducks are very wise to get out of the roaring creek. Happy Thursday Lynette. Allan
Thank you very much. I agree, Allan. That sleepy little creek has turned into a torrent! The ducks are feeling a bit displaced from their usual spot but they will manage.
Smart ducks! Hopefully, they’ll return when the water are not so swift. I hope you have a lovely day.
Thank you 🙂 They are wandering a bit in the park that’s down further, but there’s a big lake there, so they will be fine.
Has it been raining a lot there? Or, is it mountain snow that is melting?
It’s both. There has been rain but there’s lots of snow melt from the nearby mountains, too. Cheers.
That’s quite the change in the water levels at the creek. It’s a good sign that you’ve been getting a lot of rain, which I’m sure is needed given all the wildfires in Alberta.
Penticton has been getting a lot of rain, spread out as showers almost every day. And then there’s the runoff from snow melt in the mountains. For once we’re not the dry ones with forest fires everywhere, but I don’t wish that on anyone. Alberta has been completely walloped (and further north into the NWT as well). I wish them lots of rain.
