We Built this City on … Snow?

Starship (https://youtu.be/K1b8AhIsSYQ) may have built their city on rock and roll, but this subarctic city was built on snow. Well, not really. It’s just that when you’re deep in it (deep in the hoopla? And if you know this reference you’re a rock star!) and you have to dig your way out the door, it only feels like that.

But then again, if something feels that way, then it probably is that way, and since we just came through a weekend storm with winds that gusted to 100 km (62 mi), dropped 12 cm (4 inches) of snow, and caused an overcast that gave us only about four hours of daylight, how it feels counts for a lot.

But thankfully the storm has passed and sun should be on its way. Happy Monday.

  1. Snowmageddon has hit for sure. Here, nothing but strong winds as the next front moves in. Happy Monday Lynette. Allan

  2. Wow! That’s snow. Keep warm and safe out there, Lynette.
Last winter we had about three flakes of the white stuff over a couple of days, and that was it! Might be a bit colder this time, though.

    1. Thank you very much, Stuart. 🙂 We definitely were dumped on. We are used to the snow and cold temperatures but that wind was something else. It broke records further north of us. You stay warm, too, Stuart.

    1. Hi Lori, I take vitamin D every day. It is a necessity here. I also have a “sunlight lamp” in my office that helps a lot; it gets my brain going because when the days are this short, all I want to do is hibernate. 🙂

      1. I keep forgetting to pull out my sunlight lamp, although mine is not that great. Do you recommend a certain one?

        1. The one I have is a Northern Lights Boxelight desk lamp. https://northernlighttechnologies.ca/
I run it for about 30 mins every morning around 9, especially at this time of year. I think most of them are okay as a basic to increase your light intake. I usually just need that extra bit to make me feel more like myself instead of so brain slow. Without it, I feel like I’m gummed up!

  3. Wow, that’s a lot of snow and some strong winds! Glad to hear that the storm has subsided and that sunshine is on its way. We’ve had some windy days here in southern Ontario, but not a lot of snow.

    1. We have very cold, clear weather right now. Having some sun always helps! We are still digging out in places where the snow really drifted and drifts also formed behind some of the snow piled up from the last storm. We have lots if you want to share. 😉
