This bear was eating lunch when I spotted him. I’m not sure what he had found but it must have been tasty because he was quite engrossed.

I was glad to see him head to the forest once he saw me.

Happy Monday, happy week.

Great capture of the bear snacking. The views are just bearable!
Hahaha. 😁 I’ve seen quite a few bears, probably about 30 by now, all with their heads down, eating. I snapped this just as he lifted his head to look around. Then he saw me and left.
Always good to be bear aware. On our recent trip to Vancouver Island, there were bears around but we did not see them. We were more worried about the cougars we did not see. 🙂Happy Monday. Allan
Definitely. A colleague from Penticton once showed me a family photo taken while they were out walking. Unbeknownst to everyone, there was a cougar in the tree behind them when the picture was taken.
Black bears are pretty fast, aren’t they? I hope that was a telephoto lens.
They can be extremely fast; they appear to lumber because that’s what they do when they’re relaxed. Yes, I was in my vehicle, safely out of reach. 🙂
Whew!
smart bear, to head for the trees – but not until after the photo op!
To be so close to such an animal – wow!
I think I’ve probably seen about 30 of them so far this spring. I was safely in my truck. I don’t take chances with bears!
I thought you would be, but glad to know it. It’s a privilege to be so close to wild animals, though, isn’t it?
Yes, it certainly is. I’ve seen lots of animals in the last couple of months; it has been wonderful!
I’m glad he headed the other way. I think spring bears tend to be hungry after eating very little all winter.
I agree! I was in my truck and ready to move quickly. I’ve seen some people behave very foolishly though. Walking right up to a bear is just so stupid!
I’d definitely be in the truck and use the zoom.
For sure!
Umm, were you in a car at least? On a leisurely walk? I’m glad he went into the woods, too. But cool that you were able to capture that pic.
Oh yes, I was in my truck. I was able to photo him when he lifted his head from eating. If I see bear sign while I’m walking, I head away!
Oh, my… Big bear.
This one was fairly large, but I have seen bigger ones!
Yikes.
