This snow castle is a project that a man here does every year for the winter carnival. It’s not as warm as an iglu because the castle has much higher walls and is built for entertainment rather than real shelter. Even the castle is rather warm inside though as you’re definitely out of the wind!
This structure is more for entertainment but years ago the iglus were used when people were out on hunting trips. A very demanding way to live, even if it was only temporary.
I wonder is it cold inside?
This is one part of a snow castle. It is surprisingly warm inside as there’s no wind.
Agreed. It is nice to have a modern house to keep the warm in and the cold out. Enjoy your Thursday Lynette. Allan
Oh yes. The people who used snow houses when they were out hunting were a very hardy crowd!
Does it have a fire pit qnd chimney? It’s a very fancy igloo!
This is one small piece of a rather large and elaborate snow castle project. Alas, no fire pit or chimney though!
Better than no shelter at all, I suppose.
You said it! They do keep the wind off and that’s a good thing up here, but all things considered I would rather not have to shelter in one!
That looks really cold, but igloos aren’t, and snow houses are supposed to be warm enough.

Agreed, looks pretty, but I don’t think I’d want to live there. I’m getting cold just thinking about it.
