Beautiful shot, Lynette. There’s just something striking and so peaceful about a sunset like this. One can almost hear the silence and the singing softness of the colour.
There’s pretty terrific material with which to work, and it was a very quiet, serene evening. Sunsets in the Northwest Territories can be so spectacular.
Did you shoot this yesterday? The magenta hues make me think there might have been some smoke in the air. That is incredible, though, however it came to be. This may well become my new wallpaper.
This is one of a series from last autumn. It’s tempting to make that interpretation, but northern sunsets, particularly the Sept and October ones, do look like this. The northern position (above 60° N latitude) together with the sun’s angle near the top of the world creates seriously intense sunsets.
I would agree that it’s an aphorism. I don’t think that they usually rhyme, but it’s meant as a piece of advice, so I would say so. I might be wrong about that though! Yes, the saying holds true for weather in the more southerly latitudes; a bit more dicey up here though (most things usually are!). Have a nice weekend. 🙂

I can imagine. I’ve seen a few photos of those sunsets – magnificent!
Amazing!
Thank you. 🙂
Stunning
Thank you. 🙂
This is a sunset that absolutely takes your breath away.
Northern sunsets (above 60° N latitude) can be absolutely amazing with how intense they are.
Nothing beats a sunset over water. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing Lynette. Allan
Thank you. I always try to stop and enjoy them. They can be so intense and breathtaking.

Well what do you know, it just did! The contrast makes it easy to see all the icons, too. Thanks a million.
You’re welcome. 🙂 Enjoy!
Just beautiful. I read the science behind that aphorism (can I call it that?). It actually makes sense.

Oh, and what is the name of that lake? My lovely, lake loving lady (There’s a few “L’s” for ya) is going to want to know.
That is Prospect Lake; it’s a few km north of Yellowknife. Unfortunately, no Ls in it though. 😉
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you very much. 🙂
That’s a spectacular one!
It was rather amazing!
How lovely!
Thank you very much. 🙂
Awesome capture !!
Thank you. 🙂
Gobsmackingly gorgeous!
The sunsets in August were quite affected by forest fire smoke, so some of them were quite intensely red and orange.
