I loved this little red poppy when I saw it.

Vancouver is experiencing a drought right now and many of the plants are suffering, but this one was holding up well.
Happy mid-week. 🙂

There always the hardy determined soles. I was shocked to see how brown the Vancouver grass is right now. Not a good sign for a rain forest. Still waiting for serious rain here, as well. Have a great day Lynette. Allan
Yes, I was too! I have never seen it that brown, and neither has M, who grew up in Vancouver. Agreed, not a good sign for a rain forest. Cheers.
A proud beauty. Lovely.
Yes, able to rise above the drought!
Everything is parched and some of these poppies keep on blooming. They’re so tough and yet so delicate.
Yes, they definitely are delicate-looking toughies! It’s still so amazing (and scary) to see Vancouver so dry.
We’re surrounded by tall firs here and while I love that, it makes me really nervous during fire season.
Yes, Penticton too. Lots of very dry pines everywhere. Rather nerve-wracking, for sure. Fingers crossed for you.
the drought, the vulnerability, makes the bloom that much more special
Yes, it definitely does. Seeing the drought hitting rainforest country like that has been scary.
Poppies are such beautiful flowers. We’ve had a hot week here with no rain. The lawn in our backyard is looking very brown. The forecast is calling for some rain this weekend and next week, which is long overdue. Hope you’ll get some rain soon too.
Fingers crossed that you get some rain this weekend! We have a lot of overcast but nothing happening yet. I hope we get some soon.
