A Lingering Lake View

This morning I am leaving the south and heading back to …

A view of Lake Okanagan until?

… the north. Because of my work requirements and the safety precautions around covid, I’m not sure when I’ll be back.

Due to the travel, my WP visits may be sporadic for the next couple of days, but in the meantime, have a good weekend and enjoy this lingering summer view. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Jacqui. 🙂 You will. I’m just heading back to my regular work in the north, but it feels so strange in this covid-world because I don’t know when I’ll be able to return to my southern home.

  1. Be careful, but have the best time you can. I’m watching a show on Netflix called Alone, and the players are surviving the winter on the shores of Great Slave Lake. I’ve got to say it’s beautiful in spite of being so brutal and unforgiving. I hope there is solace in that for you. I’ll be reading whatever you write, and be glad to see it, so stack some stuff up. Keep warm and hurry back, WP isn’t the same without you.

    1. Thanks, Kenny. Much appreciated. 🙂

Yes, I know that show and know of the area where the survivalists are placed (I’ve flown over it). I think there have been three seasons of it on Great Slave now. It’s near Lutsel’ke, and I believe some of the local elders are hired to silently keep an eye on the contestants. As you can imagine, they know the area extremely well and how to live outside.

It is very beautiful, and winter is its best season. Brutal, yes, if you aren’t respectful and knowledgeable of what it can do. In winter, I don’t go anywhere without a good survival kit and my parka that keeps me toasty in -40. 😉

      1. I just finished watching an episode while eating some leftover Kentucky fried chicken,, original recipe, of course. One contestant had it going on. He shot a moose, so he had plenty to eat and he built a jam up shelter, so he obviously had all the skills, but the isolation got to him so he quit. Be sure to stay in touch. Do you have zoom?

        1. Yes, I remember him. He’s pretty talented. The isolation is usually what the contestants find the most difficult to deal with (a situation we’re all getting to know a little too well!). I definitely will be in
touch; I’m posting some Great Slave Lake photos tomorrow. 🙂 I use Zoom at work; many of my meetings are done that way now, but otherwise I use FaceTime.

I'd love to hear what you have to say!
