Closing Time

The last summer days are coming to a close.

Unable to continue their slowing breaths, some leaves in this northern clime are already turning yellow.

So must we all.

And know the beauty that exists in the end.

Wherever you are in the northern hemisphere, happy autumn. 🙂

To you southerners, happy spring. 🙂

    1. Thank you. 🙂 I took that photo in late October a couple of years ago. I was on a trail in a tamarack forest in BC and the yellow was so enveloping that it seemed to tint the air.

  1. Still hot here. I don’t mind. At least the heat comes to an end, unlike where I lived for way too long. Enjoy the autumn colors. Sometimes I wish I could just dive into fall colors (like the lovely yellow in your photo).

    1. Thank you. I love tamarack trees. They turn such an intense yellow. In BC they grow to incredible heights and then to see them turn like that! Autumn with its cooler temps can be so lovely. 🙂

    1. It is tamarack. I took this photo in late October a couple of years ago while hiking on a trail just east of the Okanagan valley. It was quite a sight – briefly, I became part of a yellow world.
I am back in NWT now where fall moves very quickly and efficiently. Leaves drop as they turn and trees go to sleep. We will have snow by early October. 🌨

        1. We do get them in the north – It’s just that winter is really long and the shoulder seasons are incredibly short. The midnight sun makes up for the shorter spring and summer but I’m not a big fan. I like having some darkness to sleep in. 🙂

          1. Our days will start to get quite short by October and we will be down to about 5 hrs of daylight by Dec. The daylight hrs will start to increase significantly by March. In June it doesn’t really get dark – twilighty for about 3-4 hrs (we’re at 61° N latitude).
